Russian, Turkish Presidents will oversee launch of TurkStream natural gas pipeline

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Istanbul after paying a surprise visit to Syria. He is there to meet his Turkish counterpart Recep Erdogan for the launch of the TurkStream natural gas pipeline, which will deliver Russian gas to Turkey and Europe. Putin is also expected to have a summit meeting with Erdogan regarding developments in the region and rising tensions between the U.S. and Iran. The Syrian conflict and war in Libya will also be discussed.
