If you never thought about how do animals mate, then let's start with the bowerbirds mating ritual. The bowerbird female's behavior when finding a mate is similar to a woman's. And here's why: Female bowerbirds aren't just impressed by a male's colorful feathers and rockin' dance moves, they want to see if he's handy, too.
Males use sticks to build a two-sided structure called a bower, which the female inspects to make sure it is well-constructed. To sweeten the deal, the males will typically use flowers, leaves, or even brightly-colored bits of plastic in order to decorate. He does everything he can to prove he'll be a good provider.

Not to mention the hyenas. They are the "head" of the family: They're bigger and stronger than the males. And definitely much more aggressive.
A female hyena has a pseudopenis, basically an enlarged clitoris, that they can erect at will. To mate, the meeker male has to insert his penis into her pseudopenis. That's difficult for the males, but still, nothing compared to the female having to give birth through a penis!

There are some lazy animals out there that don't think about getting laid at all. But zookeepers have found the perfect solution for the giant panda. Watch the video to see the giant panda mating reaction and what do zookeepers have to do to make them reproduce.

The way that bedbugs mate is not cute at all. Scientists call their mating ritual "traumatic insemination".

When pooping is on the checklist to start a mating ritual, hippopotamus are the happiest. The male uses his tail to spray the female hippo with his feces.
It definitely is one of the smelliest ways to attract a partner, but hey, it works for them.

Even if dinos were more likely big and fearless creatures, they had a cute way to attract a partner. Little is known about dinosaurs' mating habits, but evidence preserved in rocks in Colorado suggests that some dinosaurs practiced a ritual dance much like one performed by living birds in order to find a mate.

How chimpanzees do it?
Though chimpanzees and humans share about 99 percent of the same DNA, numerous physical and behavioral traits separate us from our closest living relatives. But are we different even when it comes to coitus? Just how do chimpanzees "do it?"
Like humans, chimpanzees have love moments year-round. When a female is in heat, the skin around her genitals becomes pink and swollen - this attracts the males.
Both male and female chimps elicit doing the dirty, though in a more brazen way than most people. If a female's interested in a male, she'll put her swollen bottom right up in his face. When a male wants it, he shakes a tree branch or displays his erect penis to a female.
While men often prize youthful partners, male chimps prefer older females. These experienced females have the most action, but most females do mate with several males in the community, and sometimes with males in other communities.

The Horrors of Anglerfish Mating
The anglerfish that everyone thinks of, with a bioluminescent antenna-like structure and the incredibly scary-looking teeth, is the female. Male anglerfish are much smaller and look very different.
The male usually wastes away and dies, leaving the female-only with his reproductive system to use whenever she wants.
When males go looking for love, they follow a species-specific pheromone to a female, who will often aid their search further by flashing her bioluminescent lure. Once the male finds a suitable mate, he bites into her belly and latches on until his body fuses with hers. The male, who isn't as good at finding food, gets his nutrition from the female. In turn, she is able to use his sperm when she wants to reproduce.
The male usually wastes away and dies, leaving the female-only with his reproductive system to use whenever she wants.
For us, it’s something to both marvel and cringe at, a reminder that the natural world is often as strange as any fiction we can imagine.
