There is no category in BC Housing for people who have housing who lack amenities, (pitting them only 1 step above homelessness which BC Housing should have) .
Instead of granting people funds when they exercise common sense to gain the amenities wherever they can find them who lack them in their housing where they live, (so they don't die or suffer) BC Housing mistakenly penalizes them for it and their efforts to stay alive and suffer less (saying they therefore have 2 residences when all they are really trying to do is obtain the amenities they lack, and therefore they do not qualify for such funds)!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not taking into account the true perspective of marginalized persons themselves and disallowing them a voice entirely, is a grave 'faux pas'!
When somebody continues to reiterate over and over again that they do not have 2 residences but only one, and that all they are trying to to do is have access to amenities other people have, BC Housing penalizes them! Is that fair?
BC Housing is forcing people to endure squalor and extreme, dangerous temperatures they are not prepared to handle if they lack such amenities that undisputibly will lead to death (given what we now know scientifically about the human condition and what humans can withstand during extreme cold if not adequately housed).
Protest on behalf of marginalized people who live in sub-standard housing on Salt Spring Island, BC, other provinces and around the world who deserve adequate housing (enough so they won't suffer or die as a result of their housing situations)!
By seeking to alleviate such threats, suffering or possible death, BC Housing wrongs others even more by denying them access to the funds needed when rent funds are stolen (they ought to receive).
Illogical, isn't it... and a genuine flaw in 'the system'... that to try to prevent suffering and dying by seeking refuge, one is penalized for it by BC Housing! The alternative (BC Housing wants you to do), is to not seek refuge, which means suffering and possible death.
