Ruptly is live as demonstrators gather at Erfurt’s Cathedral on Saturday, February 15, under the slogan “Not with us!” to condemn the recent joint voting of the CDU and FDP with the AfD.

In Thuringia’s last state elections, Free Democratic Party (FDP) candidate Thomas Kemmerich emerged as the new head of government after he received surprise support from the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Alternative for Germany (AfD), ousting incumbent Bodo Ramelow from Die Linke.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel slammed the "unforgivable" development in a statement during her visit to South Africa. FPD leader Christian Linder asked Kemmerich to step down.
