Injuries sustained by one wolf during a single summer

Injuries sustained by one wolf during a single summer This video of the breeding female of the Sand Point Lake pack shows the injuries wolves commonly sustain in the wild, BUT more importantly it shows how wolves heal from those injuries. If wolves were not resilient in the face of injuries, then they would have a pretty tough time chasing/killing prey and surviving. Most injuries wolves sustain come either from chasing prey through rugged landscapes or getting kicked, bitten, or gouged from prey when attacking them. This is just par for the course when trying to catch and kill large prey.

We found the wounds on Sept 20, 2019 to be the most intriguing as the wolf had a large cut all the way down her muzzle, several other smaller cuts on her face, part of her nose had been ripped, and she had a gash on the inside of her leg. We have some ideas about she got these but are curious to hear other folks thoughts.

It is worth noting that the Sand Point Lake Pack resides almost entirely within Voyageurs National Park so all these wounds are natural wounds and are simply part of being a wolf in the wild.
