An ordinary dog can’t beat a bhotiya dog anyhow. These dogs are very particular in their tasks n performances and help Shepard in their works to manage goats and sheep in herd.
These dogs are found in northern Himalayan regions of Uttarakhand and Himachal state of India. They are trained to harness the herd of goats and sheep all around the day and take them back to yard.
Bhotiya dogs are alpha dogs and toughest to any conditions. They are supposed to take care of all livestock. They are very stronger in fighting with leopard and tiger to safeguarding animals from these predators
Bhotiya dogs is a mastiff-type mountain dog found in Northern India, especially in states of the western Himalayan region: Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Kashmir. They are also called Indian panther hounds and Mahidant mastiffs.
Initially bred for hunting purposes, the multi-talented Gaddi Kutta or bhotiya dogs is widely used by local shepherds, mostly Gaddis (from the tribe of the same name). They are said to be strong enough to repulse attacks by snow leopards and to have the intelligence to herd stray sheep and goats back to their pens.

भोटिया, भूटिया या भोटी नाम से जाने जानी वाली प्रजाति तिब्बतन मस्टिफ का ही एक रूप है जो दुनिया में सबसे महँगी ब्रीड है। नेसर्गिक प्रतिभा का धनी यह कुत्ता हिमालयी घास के मैदानों में भेड़ों के लिए प्रबंधक और सुरक्षा का कार्य करता है। दो कुत्ते 5०० से 6०० भेड़ों को संभाल लेते हैं. और दो भोटिया कुत्ते सामने हो तो बाघ भी सामने आने की हिम्मत नहीं करता । एक बाघ और एक कुत्ता हो तो मुकाबला जोरदार होता है अगर दो कुत्ते हो तो बाघ ज्यादा देर नहीं टिक पाता।
बता दें कि भोटिया प्रजाति के ये कुत्ते गुलदार से लड़ने की क्षमता रखते हैं। इस प्रजाति के कुत्ते को बकरी पालन का व्यवसाय करने वाले लोग बकरियों की रक्षा के लिए पालते हैं। जबकि अन्य वर्ग इन्हें सुरक्षा की दृष्टि से पालते हैं। यह दिन में काफी शांत परंतु रात्रि में खौफनाक रहता है। ये एक बेहद शांत व गंभीर किस्म का जानवर होता है जो कम चहलकदमी करता है। भेड़पालक इसे परिवार के सदस्य के समान पालते हैं। हज़ारों की भीड़ में भी अपनी भेड़ों को पहचानते हैं।
निचले हिमालयी क्षेत्रों में इसकी मिलीजुली प्रजाति मिलती है परन्तु उच्च हिमालयी क्षेत्रों में इसकी शुद्ध प्रजाति मिलती है। इसके लिए आपको हिमाचल के कुछ भागों में, उत्तराखंड के गढ़वाल कुमाऊँ के उच्च हिमालयी क्षेत्रों में जाना होता है। ये दुनिया में सबसे बुद्धिमान व महँगी प्रजातियों में आती है पर भारत सरकार की तरफ से इसके संरक्षण के लिए कुछ नहीं किया गया न ही इसकी शुद्ध प्रजाति को बचाने के लिए कोई मुहिम, निचले क्षेत्रों में लोगों द्वारा खरीदे कुत्तो की नश्ल मिश्रित हो गयी है। भेड़पालन ब्यवसाय कम होने के कारण इन्हे पूरा खाना और अत्यधिक ठंडी जलवायु नहीं मिल पाती. तिब्बत में इसकी सर्वश्रेष्ठ नश्ल पायी जाती है। हिमालयी क्षेत्रों में इनकी वफादारी सजग पहरेदारी पर कई रोचक किस्से हैं।
