Almost every property agent will agree that it is good practice for landlords to hold landlord insurance. However, it is vital for agents to educate their landlords to ensure that they read the specific details of their policy and ensure that they (the Landlord) are happy with the coverage being provided. Specifically, a Landlord in NSW should be looking to see that the landlord insurance policy covers the issues of coverage whether the tenant is under a lease or in a continuation period (month to month agreement); if the policy covers the landlord is they live outside of NSW; and if the policy covers circumstances of domestic violence and the repercussions to their income for their property from tenants.
