This video presents 4 of the simplest steam locomotive models that were offered as " bottom of the range" . They were also commonly found in the complete start sets.
Another video will later on present the middle of the range products ( Br 23, Br 38, Br 75, Br 81...) and a final one the more complex and expensive ones.
Today, the locomotives are shown running on a very small and simple layout (created by / for my grandsons when they still had an interest in model trains😂)
To those who claim that running Märklin models is too expensive, requires too much room etc. I answer this: the layout measures only one square meter (90×120 cm) and its cost did not exceed 150 euros. I basically used two second-hand start sets which provided the track, the two power units, two locos ( one steam, one diesel) and some rolling stock. I bought the sets on ebay for about 50 euros each. I added a few pieces of M track, two hand-operated points...20 euros in total. Add a sheet of plywood, two trestles, bits of buildings and trees etc. from my scrap box. Construction took us a week end, including the tunnel and painting the landscape.
And when not in use, you can store the layout under a bed, it is light enough for one single person to manipulate.
SO, NO EXCUSE FOR NOT HAVING A GO AT IT! ☺👍🤔 I guarantee you will have hours of fun.
Best regards.
