Broadcast #848 Grace Communion International - according to Wiki (GCI), formerly the Worldwide Church of God (WCG) (still registered as Worldwide Church of God in the UK and some other regions) and the Radio Church of God, is a Christian denomination based in Charlotte, North Carolina, U.S.A., with the former mentioned organizations having had an often controversial influence on 20th-century religious broadcasting and publishing in the United States and Europe. After the death of WCG's founder Herbert W. Armstrong in 1986, Joseph Tkach Snr, Armstrong's chosen successor, took his seat in office. He, along with other leading ministers, came to the conclusion, after careful study, that a great many of their doctrines were not biblical. However, not all leaders and members agreed to engage in the re-evaluation of Armstrong's teachings and divisions resulted. Although former doctrines taught during Armstrong's so-called apostleship were subsequently rejected by the leadership and much of the membership, some continued to believe and practice them. The church became split. The leadership found themselves in agreement with the statement of faith of the National Association of Evangelicals so joined that alliance, though not all members agree with GCI's current orthodox teachings. In light of the doctrinal changes made, the WCG denomination in the USA, changed its name, in April 2009, to Grace Communion International to better reflect its Christ centered, grace-oriented, incarnational trinitarian theology:
