THE LOVER How could I have known love
If my being has been far from thee
My actions futile, false
Without your blessings
Oh how have I loved
When it can only come from you
A fool I've been
Arrogantly proclaiming
What I do not know
As the lover I failed
Pursuing such a thing
Without your consent
Forgive my bewildered heart
For it did not know better
