WOMEN’S QUESTION is a much debated theme in post-Independence India. Here we dealt with two facets of that theme, namely, Movements and Legislations. Carrying on the legacy of consistent struggle for women’s rights, the wrongs done to the women are also to be corrected. In post-1947 India, women themselves, began to organise protest movements in various forms, and with renewed vigor. Penetration in working class women grew in a big way. Traditional barriers were transgressed and voices were raised against atrocities against women. The State in post- Independence India, continues to create laws to protect women and give equal status and empowerment.
