Babies are hard to ignore. They engage you with them by their cute words and gestures and in initial stages by cute facial expressions. When it comes to talking or conversing babies starts to show their intent for conversation at 7-8 month. They show their intent by making strong eye contact, vocalizations with the sounds that don't make sense. At 7-8 month they start to react to their name because of repeated use of their name they recognize them so interaction with adults for learning is very important, they also react to your gesture as they look in the direction where you point. Around 12-15 month your little bundle of joy will follow your command without gestures because they recognize the words, but they don't start to speak fully because they don't know how to pronounce them. They also start to converse with you by point to more specific things and looks to you for a green or red signal towards anything. It's at this stage that they begin to speak their first words. When turning 18 months old they start to imitate and are highly expressive towards their ideas, recognizes pictures and use half or key points to express demands. As they turn 24 months old, they begin to speak with proper language and form complete sentences, also express the negatives like if they don't wanna do anything then they will say it out loud. If a child shows some delay in the process starts evaluating that is, he or she is suffering from hearing problems, autism, cognitive disabilities etc and concern your paediatrician.
