NEXT Guideline Explained in Details !! ALL INDIA MEDICAL STUDENTS'ASSOCIATION had a meeting with The 80G (MCI) and
(NMC) officials at the Indian Council of Medical Research. The proposed pattern of the NEXT
exam was discussed in detail and suggestions were taken from all stakeholders.
The proposed exam will be conducted most probably from 2022(changes expected). #3 0 IN
Following points emerged out of the meeting:
1. NEXT will be 2 exams
2. The proposed pattern will be:
NEXT exam P AIMSA
- All India concurrent online exam
Medical & Allied ( 3 hrs) - 120 items + Pediatrics (1.5 hrs) - 60 items
» Surgery & allied (3 hrs) - 20 items + ENT (1.5 hrs) - GO items
» Obstet. & Gyn (3 hrs) - 120 items + Ophthalmology (L5 hrs) - 60 items
The exam may be conducted over 3 days
Type of Qs CONTACT INFO
60% Problem solving
30% comprehension/analysis
10% recall
Of the total in each stream, 10% applied basic sciences and 10% preventive/public
health
3. There will be consideration of quashing of the Third year profs and Final Year Profs, converting them to Internal Assessments by College and instead of conducting a NEXT 1
exam (Tentatively in March)after course completion (in Jan)
Those who qualify (Cutoff decided by NMC), will be allowed to start an Internship.
Otherwise, you have to wait for 1 year (as of now)
We have strongly put forward the necessity of a Supplementary Exam and It will be
considered,
So we can hope for a Supple
We will have only 2 months gap(as of now) between course completion and Next
exam.
4, At the end of the Internship, there will be NEXT 2 (after 1 month). It will test Clinical REGARDS,
Skills and there will definitely be Another attempt
Suggestions to MBBS students: Start taking your clinical posting very seriously and also, complete your internship honestly. Try to gathers as mush of practical knowledge
as you can as the pattern is drastically changing and you can expect a lot of
weightage given to such clinical oriented pattern of questions.
There will be no separate JIPMER or AIIMS exam. (As decided till now)..........
