WhatsApp is a free messaging service with enhanced security features that makes it easy for you to stay in touch with friends and family all around the world. By default, other WhatsApp users can easily see if you're currently using the platform, which means they'll likely expect a quick response from you. While it's not intuitive, you can hide your WhatsApp online status so you appear offline. Finally, it's important to note that when you change your settings to appear offline on WhatsApp, you also won't be able to see the status of other WhatsApp users.
Now let's walk through the steps to appear offline on WhatsApp on your iPhone, iPad or Android device.
Step 1. Launch WhatsApp on your iPhone, iPad or Android device. Your WhatsApp home screen appears.
Step 2. Tap "Settings" along the bottom of the screen on your iPhone or iPad to display the Settings screen. Alternatively, if you're using an Android device, tap the vertical ellipses at the top of the screen, and then tap "Settings" in the menu that appears to get to the Settings screen.
Step 3. Choose "Account" in the menu. The WhatsApp Account screen appears.
Step 4. Tap "Privacy." The Privacy screen is displayed.
Step 5. Select "Last Seen" in the menu. The Last Seen screen appears.
Step 6. Tap "Nobody" in the menu to place a check mark next to Nobody.
Now, when you use WhatsApp going forward, other WhatsApp users won't be able to see when you were last using the service. And as a reminder, you also won't be able to see the online status of other WhatsApp users.
