Amherst County High School is a suburban public high school, grades 9–12, serving Amherst County, Virginia. As the only high school in the county, ACHS offers a comprehensive program: from advanced (AP) classes to classes offered through a reciprocity program with local colleges that allows students to earn both high school and college credit at the same time. In addition to the academic program, Amherst County High School has a comprehensive vocational-technical department that includes Welding (offering certification), Auto Mechanics, LPN Nursing (certification offered), EMT-B (certification offered), Masonry, Carpentry, Agriculture, and Television Media and Production 1 & 2.
A full roster of sports are offered, including football (Region III District 4 State Champions 1995, 2006, 2007, Reg III Dist.4 State runner-up 2008 and 2009), Basketball, Baseball (VA Reg III, Div 4 State Champs 2003), Softball, Golf, Swimming, Tennis, Wrestling, Track & Field, Soccer, and Volleyball.
