The Philippine Navy's Anti-Submarine helicopter capabilities which will soon be operational

The Philippine Navy's Anti-Submarine helicopter capabilities which will soon be operational AW159 is a multi-engine multi-mission military helicopter that is able to independently detect, identify and attack Land and Sea targets. This high-performance platform has a sophisticated avionics and mission system for exceptional crew situation alertness. A complete set of self-protection measures facilitates rapid tactical assessment in each operating room.

In addition to the role of war, the highly adaptable AW159 is capable of carrying out various major missions including: Medical Evacuation, Search and Rescue (SAR), Special Forces or Insertion of Troops and Transport of Internal and Underslung Forces for Vertical Filling.

The aircraft that has this advanced technology has a series of integrated and comprehensive mission systems that are operated through the Tactical Processor. The Human Machine Interface is designed to reduce the aircrew workload and increase cockpit capacity to increase situational awareness and mission effectiveness.

AW159 is designed with a high level of survival and accident ability; Ballistic tolerant design, self-sealing fuel tank and armored protection. Short readiness time and a high level of availability ensure it is ready for operation, whatever the conditions, when others are not.

In 2014, it was reported that AW159 was considered by the Philippine Navy. In March 2016, Augusta West won a € 100 million contract with the Philippines Department of National Defense for two helicopters along with training and support. Helicopters are scheduled to be delivered in 2018 with the aim of providing anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and anti-surface capability; prior to the introduction of Wildcat, the Philippines did not have ASW capability in areas where the number of submarines operated by other countries would reportedly grow.

On May 7, 2019, the Philippine Navy received delivery of two AW159 anti-submarine helicopters after a delay of 6 months.

And the Philippine Navy will operate the first two anti-submarine helicopters belonging to the Philippine Navy (AgustaWestland, AW) 159 'Wildcat ", in detecting, and if necessary, destroying submarines that penetrate the country's waters this November.

With the operation of this helicopter, the Philippines will no longer be afraid if water is put into foreign submarines without permission, which can damage the country's sovereignty.
