The track is an impactful ballad with a catchy, pop-meets-country vibe. Drawing from personal experiences, the song evokes nostalgic feelings of happiness and longing when reflecting on fond memories of a loved one.
“We wanted to capture the timeless and heartfelt notion of “the one who got away””, said Chrystal Leigh and Jimmy Thow. “Sometimes you lose touch with people you were once close with and every so often you catch yourself thinking about them. This song is the answer to the universal question: I wonder if they ever think of me?”
Thow and Leigh co-wrote the track alongside Gavin Slate and Travis “T-Buck” Wood in Nashville. It was co-produced by Thow and Grammy and CMA nominated producer Brad Hill (Maren Morris, Brothers Osborne).
The single comes on the heels of the duo’s debut EP “Love In A Bar”, a compilation of six unique tracks, which has amassed more than 2 million streams worldwide since its release in July 2019. The group found success with their first single "Ain't Gonna be Lonely Long", which reached Billboard's Top 15, and peaked at #12 at Canadian country radio.
2019 proved to be a successful year for Sons of Daughters. The duo was nominated for the Rising Star Award at the 2019 CCMA Awards in Calgary and were finalists in the 2019 SiriusXM Top of the Country competition. Thow continues to make a name for himself as a skilled songwriter, co-writing Tebey’s smash hit “Good Jeans” which reached #2 at Canadian country radio.
