The Boeing 737-800 came down hours after Iran launched a barrage of rockets against US targets in Iraq - leading to fears jittery air defence troops targeted the plane by mistake.
The explosion killed all 176 on board the Boeing 737-800 including 63 Canadians and three Britons.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the intelligence points to Iranian surface-to-air rockets.
