According to Greene, there are dozens of fantastic universities out there vying for top-notch students with all sorts of potential. It is, in fact, part of a college’s mission to recruit the best talent possible for their student body. In other words, these colleges literally have money set aside to get YOUR kid into their school!

The problem is that most students and their parents usually have only a few of the top-name schools in mind when thinking about college - and that’s fine. That means there are hundreds of other students trying out for these same universities. Those colleges can then sit back and get more rigorous and demanding in their admissions program.

But what about the hundreds of prestigious colleges that are anxious to raise the bar on their student body? These are colleges that offer the same or better preparation than the two or three that first come to mind. And these universities have programs that reward potential recruits not only in sports, but academics, arts, and other disciplines.

These colleges also have money set aside to help diversify their student body.
