Digital Desk, Nagpur. Pension applied to employees working in organized and private sector since 1995, but the minimum pension is still only one thousand rupees. The UPA government fixed the minimum pension before the end of its term in 2014 and it has not been amended for the last 6 years. In the report submitted by the Bhagat Singh Koshyari Committee to the government in 2013, the recommendation to increase the minimum pension to 3 thousand, the government has not moved even a step in 6 years. The report of the committee has been dusting the government files for six years. From 1995 to 2019, the minimum pension has been fixed only once in these 24 years.
Reports are gathering dust in government files
Employees (workers) registered with the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) did not get pension earlier. EPS 1995 came into force and since 1995 pension was applied to employees working in the organized sector. With the non-maintenance of 200 and 300 rupees in pension, the workers' organizations agitated for fixing the minimum pension. The UPA government imposed a minimum pension of one thousand rupees before his departure in 2014. Here, the Bhagat Singh Koshyari Committee constituted on behalf of the government had recommended a minimum pension of 3 thousand and dearness allowance in its report. The committee submitted its report to the government on 3 September 2013. The BJP promised to implement this report before coming to power. For the last six years, this report has been dusting the government files. There is no work done at the governance or administration level. The report, which was submitted to the government, is still lying in that stage. That is, no action like implementing the report, studying it with the standing committee, taking further action at the government level, taking opinion from the Finance Department. No opinion was also sought from the EPFO in this regard by the Ministry of Labor. Workers are in the same mood that along with inflation their minimum pension has also increased
