I just graduated from Gallaudet University in May 2019. I am currently a Program Manager at Deaf Respite under Advocacy. How did i get there? I started out as a M.A. Clinician at Deaf Respite, using counseling skills which I learned from Gallaudet. It really helped me how to set up group and the interaction. What kind of group I was working with? I was working with people who were recovering with SUD. I have noticed there was high demand for this certain population in the state of Massachusetts. So far, we have seven people in the group and they were very motivated and excited. We will be opening up to the community this upcoming spring. So, I am really excited to use the knowledge and skills from the graduate school. It honestly helps me to apply and to really see how it affects the clients, and to build a relationship with the clients. So I always valued what I’ve learned from Gallaudet University and for where I am today. I am looking forward to what is yet to come.”
