What's the difference between linear-phase, minimum-phase, and maximum-phase?

A minimum-phase filter imparts an EQ profile with the least amount of delay on the signal. Maximum phase does the opposite. A linear-phase filter can impart a particular EQ profile but without any change in delay across frequency.
