Businesses make their money when you buy goods or services from them. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that they put a lot of effort and thought into making sure that you actually buy whatever it is that they are selling, and many companies have quite a few tricks up their sleeves to accomplish this. These tricks involve lots of psychology and science. If anything, it’s not a stretch to say that businesses are hacking our brains and behaviors to make more money. And these tactics are often so subtle that we don’t even realize what’s being done—even when the evidence is in plain sight.
