On World Mental Health Day, local health care providers dispel common suicide myths CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Local health care providers shed light on the myths and the facts of suicide as part of World Mental Health Day.

The focus this year is on preventing suicide. Providers at the Lindner Center of Hope stopped by Local 12 Thursday to dispel three common myths about suicide:

People do not actively choose to commit suicide
Suicide is not selfish
Suicide is not the "easy way out"
Dr. Shana Feibel from the Lindner Center of Hope says if someone talks about suicide, the next question to ask is: "Do you have a plan?" That will allow you to reach out and find the right person to help interrupt that plan and get them through a crisis.
