German police patrol town after shooting nearby

German police patrol town after shooting nearby (9 Oct 2019) Police have been patrolling a small town in Germany on Wednesday, after several shots were fired and two people killed in the nearby city of Halle earlier in the day.

After the shootings in Halle near a synagogue and a kebab shop, police said in a tweet that the suspects fled in a car, and soon after reported that one person had been arrested.

They gave no information about that person or reasons why they thought the attack may have been carried out by multiple assailants.

Police gave no details about the target, or targets, of the attack - but federal prosecutors, who handle cases involving suspected terrorism or national security, took over the investigation.
