Renault Duster Review | 160000 Km Long Term Review | Ecardlr Customer Review

Renault Duster the first compact SUV in India, was such a huge success when it was launched. Fortunately, it had a solo run for many years, till Ford launched a strong competitor the Ecosport a sub-4 mtr SUv, which became an instant success.
Renault Duster had lots of things going for it, key amongst them was its highway ride quality, its new looks and affordable SUV. It changed the ay Indian car buyers preference from a sedan to a SUV, for most it could well have been a step through vehicle before they upgraded to the Big SUV,
Renault Duster have had its fair share of problems too with service and spare part cost being its two biggest achilles heel. Non availability of Child Part as explained by the owner was its biggest contributor to high service cost. The owner from day one had the problem of Low amperage relay, change of AC motor and fan for 3 times since his ownership and Gear lever and it wire changes were some of the big mechanical service jobs that the owner had to undertake during Duster’s ownership.
Diminishing fuel efficiency figures from 16 kmpl to 12-13 kmpl on highway and similar reduction to 10.3 kmpl in city is another baffling concern for the owner.
The top most grouse his family has is uncomfortable rear seat which makes long drive such a pain.
All in all, one would say that his long term experience with Renault Duster could be classified as a ‘Mixed Bag Experience’ – Near equal does of good & bad experience.
