Parable of the Great Banquet

Parable of the Great Banquet In the Parable of the Great Banquet there is an imperative virtue that Jesus is trying to emphasize to his listeners. And in the Parable of the Great Banquet it is humility.

However, as is often in Jesus' parables, while they are oft-said to be easy stories to comprehend for the sake of relaying simple concepts to simple people, Jesus' parables, it would be more accurate to say, disclose a twist or a mystery of sorts that you didn't expect to hear. And, this Parable of the Great Banquet is no different.

In it, Jesus is using an earthly reality, like a great banquet, as an analogue for the heavenly banquet, the Kingdom of Heaven, which is only comparable to a wedding feast. And those who will be exalted at the heavenly banquet, the heavenly wedding feast, will be precisely those who were humble on earth.
