Generally the first descriptive or summary statistics looked at are measures of centre but alone these can be misleading. A useful numerical description of a distribution requires both a measure of centre and a measure of spread.
Specifically in this video we look at the range, the five figure summary including the minimum value, first/lower quartile(Q1), second quartile or Median (Q2), third/upper quartile (Q3), the maximum value and the interquartile range (IQR).
Another measure of spread is the standard deviation but this is covered in its own video.
