At least ten people have been killed and several more are feared trapped after a four-storey building collapsed in Dongri, Mumbai on Tuesday morning. The Mumbai building collapse took place in a narrow, congested lane, hampering rescue operations. Locals were seen forming human chains and using their bare hands to clear the debris from the Mumbai building collapse. Meanwhile, a 2017 BMC letter to MHADA which details the audit report of the Kesarbai building in Dongri, which collapsed. The letter classified the building as "C1" and advised MHADA that the building should be evacuated for demolition at the earliest.
However, Vinod Ghosalkar, chief of the repair board of MHADA, said the building did not belong to the housing body as mentioned. Ghoslakar's statement came even as officials of MHADA reached the site to assess the situation.
